Salt Water Country

A collaboration with Wiradjuri artist Graham Toomey capturing the spirit and history of the Sydney Harbour rocks area.

About:

Saltwater Country is a collaborative artwork with artist Graham Toomey from the Wongaibon / Wiradjuri Nations.

Collaborating together in a unique co-design process, we created a series of colourful lanterns that tell the story of the Saltwater People.

Team:

Collaborating Artist: Graham Toomey

Manufactured by: The Beautiful and Useful Studio

History:

Installed at Sydney's Rocks for 12 months, the lanterns capture the sun during the day, and glow from within at night, representing the enduring spirit of Indigenous culture.

Sustainability:

Textiles made from recycled PET polyester. Manufactured using 100% renewable electricity (Solar). Powered onsite using 100% solar power. Internal bladders designed to be recovered and reused. All polyester waste re-recycled onshore by Sealy.
